Exploring Capecoast
The coastal town of Cape Coast not only served as the centre of the West African slave trade, but was also the colonial headquarters of the British Gold Coast from 1664 to 1877. Today, this small town, which is home to an impressive old slave castle and a vibrant fishing port, is one of Ghana's most popular tourist destinations, alongside the neighbouring village of Elmina.I always enjoy daily life in Cape Coast and Elmina. Sometimes, I escape the hectic, overcrowded city of Accra and spend time in Cape Coast, enjoying the atmosphere of this historic old town and exploring the surrounding area's small villages.
