Around the Lake Volta

Lake Volta is an important traffic and trade route. Many villages around the lake are difficult to access by bus because the roads are in bad condition or simply don’t exist. For the market people, it is often much quicker to travel by canoe to reach the various villages and their weekly markets.
I am always interested in visiting the markets around the lake. I love to observe the traders when they arrive in their canoes in the morning and when they unload the goods.  Sometimes, they come from far away to attend a weekly market where they buy or sell mostly yam, fish, or charcoal.
